  1. On veering before turning, it depends on the turning radius of your vehicle and how tight a turn you need to make. Even for my compact car, I have to veer a little to make it into my tight driveway in a single turn, otherwise I knock over the trash cans.

    In other words, if your goal is to be perpendicular to the road as you exit the road, you might need to veer a bit to make it all the way to 90 degrees in time.
