Best and Worst Industries of Decade, or, Why Children’s Clothes Makers Need to Get Into VoIP

According to a new study, here are the best and worst performing industries of the last decade as measured in revenue percentage change terms.  Here are the leaders:

This may say more about me than about the lists, but I find the biggest decliners the most interesting. It is led by clothing manufacturers, followed by a financial sector, and then a bunch more clothing companies. No autos, and no easy guesses in here. What do these have in common? This: It’s really more about outsourcing than about industries in outright global decline. We look for disruption when the biggest source of disruption in the last decade was displacement.
