Here is an eye-opening comparison of the differential ease of starting and closing a business in various countries. Using the latest WTO/DoingBusiness data for almost 200 countries worldwide, I take the difference between ease of starting and ease of closing for each country. I then re-sort the list to find the countries where it’s easy to start companies, but tough to shut them down.
The result? Let’s just say you really don’t want to start a failure-prone dot-com in Rwanda or Madagascar.
