Pain for Pensions in Private Equity

The carnage has been fairly horrific for pension funds coming late and investing heavily in private equity. Just look at the following table of losses for three of the largest state pension funds over the last few years. Admittedly it may be a little early to completely write off investments made in 2006, but conservatism would dictate writing it down aggressively, as the figure suggests.
