Ben Bernanke on 60 Minutes

If Ben Bernanke is appearing on 60 Minutes — which he did tonight in a rare interview with a current Federal Reserve chairman –  that tells you something. I just can’t decide, however, whether that "something" is wildly bullish or wildly bearish. I’m tempted to say the former, although if he comes on again I’d say the opposite, which shows you just how fickle I am.

Feel free to argue either way, of course. I’m just amazed at how zen-beatific he looks under the circumstances.

[Update] Can I just say that I loathe the middle-brow television style that so-schematically says you have to personalize these stories with homespun examples. The 60 Minutes staffers had less than a half hour to broadcast with Bernanke, and yet we had to suffer through a visit to Bernanke’s house, talk about the clichéd Main Street/Wall Street dichotomy, etc. Eeesh.
