Restaurant Traffic, Then and Now

Continuing on my with my discussion of consumer discretionary spending, especially with respect to restaurants, here is a useful NPD chart of y-o-y restaurant industry traffic over the last few years. The data points in September and October were epochally awful, so it is somewhat surprising that November did as well as it did. That said, NPD points out that most of the November growth was at fast-food places, with other restaurants all losing ground.
