Greenspan-ian Platitude Time

I’m sure it’s me being me, but this opening platitude from ex-Fed chair Alan Greenspan’s speech last night a the Economic Club of New York bothered me:

These are perilous times. But history tells us they will pass.

Of course history tells us that. If things simply became perilous, and then got increasingly so, we likely wouldn’t be here talking about how things became perilous again.

Okay, I feel better now.
