The Axis of Upheaval: Somalia, Russia, and Mexico
As the introduction to a Foreign Policy special issue on the "axis of upheaval", Niall Ferguson writes about why Somalia, Russia, and Mexico (and Iraq, and Iran, and possibly Thailand and Indonesia) will be countries affecting our near future. Economic upheaval has been overlaid on an already combustible mix, and the result is a ready-made conflagration.

The last piece, in particular, is must-read. More people died in Mexico's next-door insurgency last year than did Americans in Iraq.
