Wildly busy today, but a quick election factoid that got my attention:
Voters in U.S. 2008 presidential election: c. 131 million
Total voters in all U.S. pres. elections, 1788-1908: c. 137 million— via PPI
Relatedly, voter turnout is currently thought to have been around 64.1%, which is huge, the most since 1960. Put another way, almost as many people voted for Barack Obama as voted in the entire 2006 mid-term Federal election.
