First Reaction to Google Stock Screener: 7.8/10
I've been pining for a better stock screener since Reuters shut down theirs and ruined 2007 for me. Okay, I exaggerate a little, but I was distressed.
Now, however, we have Google Stock Screener. And my first reaction? I like it. Lots of criteria to scan by, a nice interface, etc.
Biggest issues: Less flexibility about adding custom & calculated criteria than I'd like, no analyst recommendation data, and no ability to monitor the output for changes dynamically.
I know there are oodles of Google Finance people who read this, so listen up. Make the changes. You have a killer product on your hands.

Now here's a dream... Expand =googlefinance addin on Google Docs spreadsheet to be able to port data into a sheet from the screener... Wow!
Biggest problem, and currently the only reason that I won't use it over MSN Money screener:
1) no ability to screen stocks with Dividend Growth over past 10+ years; and
2) no ability to screen stocks with CURRENT REVENUE.
Having analyst screening added would be nice too, though not as critical to me.
I must have missed something, because I didn't see hardly any decent screening criteria. Most free screeners are pretty weak. Here's one that has your analyst recommendation criteria, as well as EPS estimates, revisions, and surprises:
http://www.zacks.com/screening/custom/
globeinvestor.com has an ok one
Google missing features
-only domestic - would be nice to screen CDN and UK stocks
- Should be able to save like globeinvestor
- should be able to email myself or have a trigger like globeinvestor
Stockcharts stockscans has nice features -eg allows filtering of stocks hitting their 52 week /all time high.
I like the interface a lot but agree that the Reuters screener was terrific. Since it left I have been using AAII's Stock Investor Pro which is really nice. If GOOG could combine the ability to customize criteria along with their interface it would probably be the best thing out there. Or they could go the full route and get a historical fundamental and price database and let us do backtesting on criteria as well. Kind of a Tradestation meets Compustat for free platform. So its kind of a dream but it would be amazing.

Good call...all they need is some type of "Custom Criteria" field that encompasses different parts of the balance sheet, cash flow and income statements and they'll be all set.
I'm sure they'll make it dynamic and RSS'able at some point too.
