Quote du Jour: Verizon’s Wireless Bid

Quote of the day comes from an analyst talking about Verizon’s monster bid to take the lion’s share of spectrum in the just-completed C-block wireless auction:

This keeps the number of national competitors to a minimum and will help allow Verizon to keep its customer loyalty rate high.

Nothing like preventing the emergence of new competitors to help prop up the ol’ "customer loyalty".

  1. at roughly $ 120 a subscriber, the $ 16 bn Verizon and ATT spent is one of the best bargains to keep lock-in and may be consolidate their 52% mobile market share more in coming years. But, you are right, is that customer loyalty?

    Hi Paul,
I know Google didn’t really bid seriously and was more interested in getting the access opened up, but do you have any thoughts on what the landscape looks like now, for Google in wireless access?
