JEF - Jeffries Group Inc. :P

YUM is my fav

When Lion Country Safari was public their ticker was GRRR.

This one is off topic -- I love Oakley's ticker: OO

Looks like glasses!

I like COIN and SEED, COIN represents what pumpers are making by selling off stock of a worthless company and SEED because they're even seedier

I like 3M (MMM) and ev3 (EVVV).
Brinker, who own's Chili's and some other restaurants - EAT
And my favorite is HouseValues, SOLD - the ticker that tells you how you could've made money at almost any point since their IPO.

CAKE - Cheesecake Factory

FLY - Babcock & Brown Air (a leasing company)

HOG - Harley Davidson

Not semi-phonetic, but I always liked ICE. JADE is pretty much a word too, as is FAX.

More onomatopoeia, but BA is fun...

In the semi-phonetic category... SKIL, SWIR, XRAY, BUD... and Emiril's BAM!

BLOG (BladeLogic) was my favorite until they were scooped up by BMC (even though they had nothing to do with "blogging")

PANL - Universal Display Corp

JAVA is my LEAST favorite because it seemed so unnecessary

BARE

:)

TROLL: Trolltech ASA is a Norway-based global company active within the software sector.

COOL, a video game company that developed "Cookin' Mama" for the Wii

Jack Nicklaus had a listed company before, BEAR.

BLUD: Immucor makes blood testing equipment

Jack Nicklaus' ticker was JACK. I owned it.

SBUX, APPL

WOOF

CHIC - clothing

OWW for Orbitz, which pretty much reflects what you said if you bought shares in the IPO.

DUF,,,,as in mmmmmm duff beer. day it ipo'd, I was muttering that all morning, 'mmmmmmmm duff beer'.

Pre-Mobil merger Exxon was XON. I always thought that was the perfect ticker.

GRRR (above) is great. I hadn't heard that one before.

IBM - The first stock my father bought for me as a child. At the time, it wasn't merely an acronym. It was a giggle-worthy reference to bowel movements.

XDSL = the products they developed for xDSL industry in late 90s...
