Despair For Our Future Now. Beat the Christmas Rush.

I really hope that this Battle of the Jaywalk All-Stars from tonight's Jan Leno show is fake. Because if it isn't ... well, let's just say we should despair for our future.

I wouldn't get too bent out of shape about this. US network TV have been co-opting other nation's sitcoms and dramas for decades, from Three's Company to Coupling and beyond.

This is just a homegrown version of Canadian comic Rick Mercer's "Talking To Americans."

Seems like a pretty accurate cross-section of America to me, and it's always been that way. Not sure what the big deal is.

Informed citizenry is an essential factor in a democracy. We are screwed.

@ 12:44, it's so cute how you Americans still act like you have free elections.

I always get the impression on jaywalking segments -- especially 'all stars' segments -- that people are 'dumbing it up' because they're smart enough to know that right answers == no screen time. They do collect these people from the streets of Los Angeles, don't they?

Do not worry Paul, America is still what it has always been. America is about the top 10% elite ruling the country while the rest believe in faith - religion, freedom, or democracy. The corporate America, of course, has a invested interest in dumbing down that 90% since it is easier to feed on them - that, might pose a risk in the system breakdown. But as long as the 10% know how to maintain the system, it will just be fine.
