Microsoft/Yahoo: MSFT Buying Facebook Instead? Doubt It

Yeesh, I had such high hopes Microsoft & Yahoo would finally head speedily to a close on this deal, but they're messing about instead. Yahoo is trying to convince people that News Corp. is interested -- other people like us! other people like us! -- which seems a stretch; and now Microsoft is letting it be known that it might buy something else and dump Yahoo.

Are either telling the truth? Not really, or at least not so much. But it's all part of the irritating and time-consuming. rhetoric in these things.
