Apple: Bluffer's Guide to the AAPL Call Tonight
Here is the bluffer's guide to Apple's earnings call later today, and what to say you'll be watching for:
- iPhone unit sales: 4m-plus
- New iPhone geographies: Canada, other?
- iPod units sold. Last year at Christmas Apple sold 21m. Anything under 24m is disappointing.
- $1.61 EPS, and anything other than a material beat will be treated as a miss
For those of you new to these things, Steve Jobs doesn't deign to hang with the financial crowd on earnings calls -- they dress badly, have no design sense, and generally offend his sense of aesthetics -- so don't go on the earnings call expecting to hear his dulcet tones.
