Traveler IQ Challenge

A story in the WSJ got me trying to excel tonight at the Traveler IQ online game. Well, there went the evening. God, I thought I was so much better at geography. Depressing.

Thats like crack for intellectuals, damn you!
(434,453 first run...) what did you get to?

354,126 I only got to level 10. The tapping thing on my mousepad gypped me out of perhaps one contry per level. However I think I would have still gotten stuck at level 10. I think a few hours of playing can really improve your score. You can learn the difference between Guinea, Guyana and New Guinea or Mauritania and Mauritius. The map needs to be a little bigger in the Balkans. Thanks for the pointer!

The Journal article makes it sound like these guys came up with the game on their own. I recall playing almost this exact same game (only better designed, with bigger and more detailed maps), several years ago on another website.

Damn you! Now I can't stop trying again...and again...and again...

398,364 on a laptop with a dodgy trackpad, and a screen that shows only Cuba and Dominica in the Caribbean.

I'm never going to touch that site again.

Good policy, Eric. It's a terrible time-sink. I'm already convinced it will help us into a U.S. recession.

Cool game, but only 12 levels. I wish they had more... I was able to beat it first day. Did all 12 levels, 583756 points and IQ of 134.
I guess that's pretty good, but I could do better.
