The Shorter FOMC Minutes
Sometimes the FOMC overdoes it with respect to how much information we want. The current October 31st minutes are a good example, with total information overload of data, models, opinions, and charts.
So ... I have brought Microsoft Word's ever-useful Auto-summarizer to bear to give you the shorter October FOMC minutes:
Headline inflation eased during the third quarter, reflecting a decline in energy prices; core inflation continued to be moderate. Economic indicators for Mexico pointed to moderate growth in the third quarter. Consumer food prices posted further sizable increases. Meeting participants also mentioned that while financial market conditions had improved, the functioning of some markets remained somewhat impaired. Economic growth was solid in the third quarter, and strains in financial markets have eased somewhat on balance.
I have no idea what it means, but at least it's shorter.
