Books: Hedge Hunters

While I’m thinking about books, another book that recently arrived at Casa Kedrosky is worth a mention. The people at Bloomberg sent over a copy of Hedge Hunters by Katherine Burton, a series of profiles of some of the best-known hedge fund managers of the current era. We have profiles of T. Boone Pickens and many others.

I generally liked the book, and it was impressive how many top managers Ms. Burton was able to hook into participating (as well as naming names in the next generation). She captures them all both as people and as money managers, which is in a media industry that tends to swing to either pole — hedge managers are either treated as money machines, or as fodder for gossip columns.
