Kleiner Perkins: No Business Plans Please
Maybe this happened ages ago, but I just noticed that the venture guys at Kleiner Perkins have revamped their website to have the main thing on the front page be a search box. It's definitely different, but it's also more than little disconcerting. What if I'm not searching for something? Whatever happened to trumpeting portfolio news, etc.?
Just for fun, I role-played being an entrepreneur looking for money. I entered "business plan" in the KPCB search box, with the following result:
Your search - site:kpcb.com business plan - did not match any documents.Apparently business plans aren't high on the list of things Kleiner is looking for.

At least they aren't leading people on. The few VCs I've met have all said that they don't even look at the website-submitted plans.
Assuming most VC firms do the same, I don't know why they have that form on the webite in the first place. Maybe to make them look more 'equal opportunity'-ish?
