In-Flight Instant Messaging: 11F Rocks, Man!
Virgin Airlines has launched in-flight flirting via seat-to-seat instant messaging, and an embedded WSJ reporter provides video documentation of what it has unleashed: Stuff like "11F rocks, man!", and "23E enroute to restroom".Oh. My. God.
Mind you, by the end of the flight there are only two people on the whole plane left chatting, and they're sitting beside each other. That is somehow reassuring.

It is pretty easy to block as soon as you get your first invite, so not a big deal there, Martin.
And after having played with it a while on my own flight, I can see some of the appeal- some people like talking to strangers on a plane, and this gives you an entire plane full of strangers to talk to instead of just the couple on either side of you. Doesn't necessarily float my boat, but works for some.
The real question is how *anyone* could have the stamina to use the utterly terrible keyboard for the length of a long flight.

Hi Paul:
I'm still wondering how many passengers would find this service very intruding and would block all invitations as soon as they board the plane.
