Note to Airline Haters: Never Fly JFK-LAX on Delta
Some great (if unsettling) flight delay data out from the Department of Transportation. Among other things, it says that flight delays in the first half of this year at the highest percentage of flights since the DoT began collecting such info 13 years ago. Here, however, is my favorite factoid: The worst major route/airline regularly scheduled flight in America for delays is Delta Airlines flight 1891 from New York's JFK to Los Angeles's LAX. How bad is it? Get this, the flight is delayed 100% of the time. Amazing, but Delta's 1891 is not the only flight with a bad record:
Most Frequently Delayed Flights[via DoT]
1. Atlantic Southeast Airlines flight 4104 from Atlanta to Chattanooga, TN – late 100 percent of the time
1. Atlantic Southeast Airlines flight 4176 from Atlanta to Myrtle Beach, SC – late 100 percent of the time

makes me glad to have family in chattanooga
And ASA and Comair above are Delta commuter feeds! You would lucky to be on the LAX flight in first place -)

Interesting, but this only tells you the frequency of the problem, not the magnitude. DOT tracks these stats also

I can live with being 15 minutes late 100% of the time. 1 hour late 50% of the time is the pits
