Fermat’s Last Theorem, the Documentary

This documentary about Andrew Wiles proof of Fermat’s Last Theorem is magical stuff. I saw it when it came out, and it’s wonderful to have it online.

Now, if only we had Errol Morris’s Gates of Heaven too …

I am really glad you ran across this, I really enjoyed this, now if proving there to be a successful business model for MVNO’s was so easy [and cheap]…
    Best, Phil

The Singh book is also a good read if you are interested in this topic. It’s also interesting to see how some of this work ties into current string theories.

I am so happy I came across this video. Thanks for posting it. I was challenged to solve the Fermat Theorem in Paris, France 20 years ago in a prestigious mathematical institution called “Mathematique Superieur – Mathematique Speciale”. At that time we were selected among the more mathematically bright people in France (1987). Our Math professors were challenging us to demonstrate the theorem and were saying we would become famous if we did. I do remember many of my friends spending hundreds of hours despite their busy schedules but with no success. I did hear a few years ago that a British guy found the solution but this is the first time I come across the details. The Internet is so great. I came across this site completely by luck.
