Me on CNBC Talking iPhone
I was on CNBC late today talking iPhone, etc. My fellow guest was columnist John Dvorak, who was invited on to defend his "Apple should kill the iPhone" column, as well as to substantiate his poor battery performance claims for the device. As you'll see, Dvorak didn't really do either. He hedged almost entirely on his previously much-cited "40-minutes of iPhone battery-life" claim, saying it could be any number from 40 minutes to 5 hours. Too bad, because he had a stronger case on that one -- iPhone can't help but have lower battery life given its large screen, etc. -- but he gave it even weaker support than he did his ill-considered argument for Apple backing out of the cell phone market.
Watch here. I'm particularly fond of the part where Dvorak goes all conspiracy-ish and suggests I'm on the Apple payroll.

I don't think you're on the Apple payroll and here's proof... I clicked the "Watch here" link. I have a Mac. I got no video. ("Windows Media cannot be played" blah, blah.)
If you'd been on the Apple (or Linux) payroll, you'd have linked to a company that supports an OS besides Windows. There's a reason YouTube is so popular: it uses ubiquitous Flash video, not walled garden Windows-only stuff.
Sorry. Sure it was great viewing though!
"I'd rather calculate how much time you just wasted."
Apple should put Dvorak in their ads.
Wow, this dvorak guy was really dumb...i can't believe he has a column
Dvorak has some real resentment about the so far unsuccesful life he has led. What a joke this guy..
Paul, congratulations on rational, well-balanced insight. Wow, Dvorak! He's like the cockroach of the tech world, so I presume he'll always last... somehow, but that one appearance should go a long way in discrediting him and ending his career.
Jezz, I'm usually on you for your criticism of Apple.
And it's hilarious that he ended/trailed off with "the other guys know fashion too" and yet he claims no one has tried to compete with them in the music player space.
tf - im not sure i would agree with the black and white here. i would lean more towards the whole thought that some cockroaches are smart enough to take an opportunity to make them not "seem" as bad

omg.
Why do they let this guy on tv?
"iPod is succesfull because of buying tv ads." That's sound like a April's first.
