CNet Understatement of the Day

By Paul Kedrosky · Tuesday, December 12, 2006 ·
With technology publisher Cnet losing senior people, flat-lining on traffic, and generally feeling adrift, here is the Cnet understatement of the day. It comes from Scott Kessler over at S&P:
"We think this evidences and exacerbates continuing fundamentals, corporate governance and execution issues," wrote analyst Scott Kessler. He also lowered his 2007 earnings per share estimates for CNet
to 17 cents from 31 cents "to reflect mounting challenges."
I like Scott, but saying that Cnet has "mounting challenges" is like saying something similar about newspapers. In other words, it is true, but it is also so anodyne as to risk being thought of as a back-handed compliment.
