Google’s Free Pizza

I continue to find it remarkable how Microsoft’s Bill Gates underestimates the importance of Google. Here is a quote from a weekend interview with BillG proving the point:

[Google is] in this honeymoon
phase of, Google can do anything at all times. If it was rumored they
were doing pizza, you’d think it was going to be zero calories and free.

But that’s fine, that’s great. We have a pretty broad set of
competitors. … Google’s consumer-focused
stuff only touches a piece of our product line, but I know search is a
very visible thing, and they’re the leader in that.

Search is only important because it’s “very visible”, and Google’s “consumer-focused stuff” only touches part of Microsoft’s product line? Some will say this is just anti-competitor posturing on Gates’ part, but I still think it’s remarkable stuff.
