Wildfire Thoughts
The horrific wildfire currently burning near Palm Springs in the San Jacintos has brought a brownish tone at the edge of the horizon even all the way down here in San Diego. The pictures and video are appalling, reminiscent in the flames' ferocity and speed of the Cedar Fire almost exactly three years ago. Recall, it burned more than a half-million acres closer to San Diego. The following picture, in particular is harrowing, with four firefighters killed and one critically unjured after being caught and then burned over by a wind-shift-assisted change in the fire's direction, and the fire truck turned into a blackened husk.
