Yahoo's Earnings, and Google's Dominance of Online Ads
Yahoo results are due momentarily. Should be a fun conference call, with the company increasingly being criticized as a Google-laggard.Speaking of the "G" company, its increasing dominance of online advertising is the subject of a new Emarketer report today. It puts Google at an astonishing 25% of the market, having soared past Yahoo in recent years.

That is incredible, but it is also both blessing and (potential) curse. In a sense, Google is the market, and Google and Yahoo have 43% of the online ad market between them. That is very high leverage indeed to a volatile and fast-changing market.
