YouTube is Under Media Siege
The following paragraph from a story on YouTube this weekend is a nice reminder of what life is under the media eye. The reason for the fascination is, of course, YouTube's alleged billion-dollar buyout negotiations with Google:The receptionist, Shannon Hermes, who doubles as office manager and human resources assistant, talks fast and warns staff members to escape through the back exit to avoid the uninvited TV news truck out front. YouTube cannot keep up with the 400 weekly requests pouring in from the media, she explained, nor field the 230 hourly incoming phone calls.A siege indeed: 400 media requests a week, and 230 calls/hour? Welcome to life under the media microscope in these strange and Google-obsessed days.
"We're under siege," she said.
