Google Reader Rocks

Sorry for the fan-boy headline, but the new Google Reader is great. It’s long been my main mobile reader, but the mobile version has also long been much better than the non-mobile version.

No longer. The new version is great, with a practical interface, easier subscription editing, better viewing option (including a full headline feed), etc.

Caveats? The home screen is funky, and I wish the program defaulted on startup to the feed scanner, rather than the summary thing to which it currently loads. Not a big deal, but worth noting.

Overall, recommended.

  1. It’s definitely better, but I’m sticking with Netvibes, as I wrote here.

  2. Stewart Pitt says:

Bloglines still dominates, but for mobile and for ease of use in the full version.

  3. Yes I agree with you, the new reader is very fun to work with. Taging content is my favorite feature of this reader.
Thank you for sharing this story with me !

  4. Still no support for password-protected feeds.

  5. Hallelujah, a “Mark all as read” button…

  6. Agreed. I wish the per post tools (email, label, star, etc) were always visible, though. Minor quibbles.
