Other People Don’t Like Car-Buying

There is a new Pew study showing that I’m not the only one who is disenchanted with cars and car-buying. Fascinating stuff, especially the discussion on it at Autoblog.

  1. Al Brockman says:

No intelligent person likes buying a car (except my previous secretary who buys a new one every 2 years). The direct sales model is flawed. Why should a dealer carry an inventory of several hundred cars just to provide instant satisfaction to a strange group of people who need that instant response. Why not do it all online. Let the dealers stick to servicing.
My daughter tried to buy a car at the “One Price” Saturn dealer. Suffice it to say that the price climbed by $4,000 in 24 hours.
