Jaiku and Twttr: The Real(time) Me
While I'm not likely in either app's target market, both Jaiku (realtime cellphone contacts list with integrated presence) and Twttr (broadcast group SMS) are good examples of how realtime -- the subject of a recent Business 2.0 column of mine -- is coming into its own via mobile.

I actually just read your Business 2.0 column about the slow adoption of SMS in the US and I thought to myself: "Why?"
SMS is a crappy old technology from the last century. Granted, we have learned how to use it, but it is so limited (160 characters) and yet so expensive. Customers in the US should take up mobile IM instead, that's way more flexible and cheaper, too. :)
