The S&P 500's Tigger Bounces Since 1970

I had two reactions to the Tigger-ish data in this Standard & Poor's chart of S&P 500 corrections and recoveries since 1970:
  • The S&P 500 is a cheery index, having been in a bull market for 31 of 36 years since 1970
  • Even when the S&P 500 tumbles during a bull market, the snapback rally could take your head off, with 14% drops being followed like clockwork by 14% gains
