The "3D" Rule
One of the challenges in seeing as many emailed business plans and pitches as I do is having a quick way to justify not reading some of them. I have some favorite rules of thumb, high among which is my "3D" rule. If a pitch prominently extolls a product or service's 3D aspect(s) then I stop reading right there. It's almost always either hype or fluff.

I can't even begin to imagine how someone could promote a product or service (other than a graphics card) as being 3D. I guess it's a good thing I'm not a VC.
