Sad news. Jane "Death and Life of Great American Cities" Jacobs died Tuesday morning in Toronto. She was 89.

It is refreshing to see that on a blog (ironically?) named "Infectious Greed" someone actually knows who Jane Jacobs is.
I am reminded of the comment made on the death of Thomas Kuhn: What is sad is not that he died, but that no one [in the media] noticed.
In Canada, at least, that isn't true of Jane Jacobs.
