Live by the iPod, Die by the iPod
PortalPlayer gets over 90% of its sales from providing the media processor on Apple's iPods. Until now. Because Apple capriciously decided that it would no longer use PortalPlayer's product [ed., Say that ten times fast!] in upcoming iPods. As a result, the company's stock has fallen 35% today, as the following graph shows.
Ah well, live by the iPod, die by the iPod. It's a lesson Apple afficionadoes might do well to remember, what with their favorite four-letter ticker getting all of its leverage from iPods and related i-services.
