Ex-Apple Blank Check Offering

It will be very interesting to see if the Acquicor “blank check” offering flies. Gil Amelio, Steve Wozniak, and Ellen Hancock aren’t Howe Street promoters, but they’re also not financial engineers. Color me skeptical. The success (or lack thereof) of the offering — an attempt to raise $150mm for unspecified technology acquisitions — will say a great deal about the outlook for the speculative end of the tech IPO market in 2006.

  1. “Blind pools” they used to be called out West when the Alberta Stock Exchange offered them — give a few names some money and see what happens. Not great odds, in most cases.
