Controversial Pop-Up Advertiser Dies

Anish Dhingra, a 23-year-old UC San Diego student, died last night in a high-speed car accident. Some people may remember that Dhingra was involved in a widely-publicized case a couple of years ago where his D Squared Solutions used the Windows Messenger Service feature to harass consumers with pop-up ads for a pop-up blocking service. The case was settled with FTC in August of 2004.

The accident happened when Dhingra and two others were in a BMW traveling at high speed in the University City area of San Diego at around 2:30 am last night. Their car went out of control and crashed into the center divide and then hit a tree. One of his passengers was also killed, and the other is currently in hospital here in San Diego.

if i read the report right, at least one of them wasn't wearing a seat belt. dumbass.

why is it that americans consistently disregard the one security measure with the highest impact...

Well. My prayers go out to him and his family. Rest in Peace Anisha. You were a friend.

His life was incredible, and had i known him i think he would have made just an incredible impact on my life as he has for the many friends that are mourning his passing.

The fact that a person could so easily say "dumbass" even in a situation where someone is at fault is disturbing. Loss of life, in any situation is tragic, and should not be treated with such crass remarks.

The other person who Died was my friends boyfriend. Ya.. it sucks but RIP! dOnt be dumb and drive fast

whoever posted this comment dumbass, is son of one an ass.

the dumb shit that posted "dumbass" in referral to not wearing a seat belt is clearly a person who has no heart and probably lives a cold dark lonely life.
