Ted Smith at UPI -- Go Away
Who is Ted Smith at UPI? Someone using that nom de blog intermittently posts huge chunks of UPI stories at my site as comments to unrelated articles.I've now spam-filtered the nitwit, but in looking around the blog-o-sphere I see that mine is not the only site where this silliness is happening. Is this guy some sort of paid UPI-spammer? I want to know.

Agreed, but strange to see spam for UPI. I'm used to stock scams and genitalia enlargement pitches, but wire service promotion is a new one to me.

I didn't see the particular spam you got, but usually this kind of comment spam is simply done by robots. Even my small, infrequently updated blog gets these. If the comment lacks any context to your entry or blog whatsoever then you can be pretty sure it's a robot.
