Dick Cheney Doesn't Do WiFi
The Smoking Gun has an entertaining catch: Vice president Dick Cheney's hotel "rider". It is the list of things, a la your average celeb, that must be in his hotel room. While the list is fairly comprehensive, including all TVs tuned to Fox News (natch), and 4 cans of Diet Sprite, there's nothing on the list matching my main hotel rider item: broadband Internet access, wireless or otherwise. When Internet access becomes part of vice presidential hotel riders -- and it will -- then we'll really know that the web has penetrated ever nook and cranny of modern life.

Right, good point. Let me put it differently then: When it shows up on vice-presidential riders then we'll know it's finally safe as houses, and just as necessary.

We know that where the VP goes, so goes people from what used to be - and may still be called - White House Communications Agency (WHCA). Their purpose of course is to keep the VP in touch with the government. I wonder if they don't provision data com along with voice.
Work/perk?
But really, do you still travel without a directional wifi antenna in your kit?
And make sure no one use a Lenovo laptop computer:

Of course, like oxygen, when it has penetrated every nook and cranny it won't need to be on any list. So let's hope it doesn't ever make the list.
