Sun and Google: The Stock Conspiracy Theory
Google buying Sun makes about as much as sense as me buying the Mormon Tabernacle, but that hasn't stopped the bizarre Google/Sun rumor for going 'round and 'round repeatedly in recent weeks. Why won't it stop? At least one person thinks that there is some orchestrated stock manipulation going on, with Digg as the vehicle.

Nice job debunking this Paul. It smelled very bad when I first got wind of the rumor. I am very disappointed that dealbook picked this story up. And you are dead on that this makes no sense for Google. Thanks for getting some light on this.

this entire so-called conspiracy theory is the work of one blogger. there is no cabal behind this theory. its not clear if this individual is actually trying to manipulate prices, or if in fact he really believes he is "on to something", but he's definitely at the grey area between the first amendment and the SEC.
