White-Collar Crime Pays

White-collar crime pays ... at least if you're the Feds. From a brief note in the current BusinessWeek, here is the total amount collected in confiscated goods auctions that were conducted by the Justice and Treasury Departmentes in two recent years:
  • 2001: $627mm
  • 2005: $926mm
For those of you who, like me, wonder about such things, that's a spiffy 10% year-over-year compound growth rate over the four-year period.
