The Perils of Metadata

When you take pictures you sometimes tell more than you intend, doubly so with digital cameras, as a near-miss for the Washington Post’s botnet hacker has demonstrated. Despite the Post trying to protect their source’s anonymity, the article contained a detailed physical description, which would only matter, of course, if he lived in a small town — which, at least according to metadata from the Post’s picture, he does. Whoops.
