I’m getting interesting feedback on my Business 2.0 piece about realtime opportunities. While I still haven’t found anyone with a well-developed platform for streaming feeds of data, there are some emerging realtime-ish services tied to IM, including TxtStocks. It provides realtime stock prices (but not a streaming realtime feed, which is what I really want) over IM. Worth a look though.

Should be pretty simple to do using ATOM over XMPP. Did I mention I’m still bullish on XMPP?
Yes, I agree. So why the hell won’t someone do it? This is low-hanging messaging fruit.
Are you referring to Google’s ERP plan for real-time enterprise search?
Nope, I’m not. And I don’t think Boris is. I’m talking about creating platforms for the realtime distribution of information, a kind of Bloomberg for everything.
How would you want it displayed? Clearly subscribing to a streaming feed using a traditional IM interface would be a very bad idea: you’d get thousands of modal popups per second. Maybe small window with a refreshing datagrid? A ticker?
