Live Delayed Realtime Stock Quotes!

I’m simultaneously baffled & entertained at Marketwatch’s “Ajax-y” new-ish live quotes feature. On the one hand the idea of having live stock quotes with three-second update cycles embedded in every news article is nuts — it’s incredibly distracting, like having electronic bugs eat the page while you’re reading. On the other hand, going to the trouble of having “live” quotes in a page, when said quotes are actually 15-20 minutes delayed, is a magnificently ornate triumph of form over function.
