Loeb Wire 1.1 — and a Question

Made a bunch of changes in my previously announced RSS wire of Daniel Loeb’s screeds to investees. Most people won’t notice the differences, but the app should now run much faster in the background here — meaning that updates will be faster (which may not matter given that it’s often months between his letters).

On a related note, if anyone on the finance side has any other similar items they think it would be fun/interesting/useful to feed-ify in this way, let me know. (Contact info is above.) Would be interesting to see what sorts of ideas this shakes loose in people’s heads.

  1. Paul, you might wish to add Chapman Capital L.L.C. (CHAP CAP PARTNERS L P) to your list. Robert L. Chapman, Jr. has written some interesting 13D filings within the past few years. While he is not a prolific writer, his occasional screeds are nonetheless highly entertaining.
My favorite is his comments to NWH, Inc. on December 13, 2002. For those interested, you can read for yourselves at http://shrinkster.com/97e , which a link to the document at the sec.gov website. You will need to toward the end of the webpage to find his letter.

The forthrightness of the 8-K filings at Expeditors International have earned considerable renown, although they (usually) are not snark-filled screeds. Most recent one is here http://edgar.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/746515/000110465905039979/0001104659-05-039979-index.htm
and the most famous one is here (see question 3 and answer thereto in particular) http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/746515/000110465903015711/a03-1427_18k.htm
I have thought for a while that they were basically using the EDGAR system to host their blog, so it might be nice to turn it into a feed!
