I subscribe to a feed of domain names being put up for auction. It is a bizarro-world window into speculator land, a place where people stake out tiny virtual plots that they think will one day be of value to someone else, like FluWatch2006.com (asking price: $45,000.00, Number of Bids: 0, Description: can be utilized to cover the flu pandemic of 2006).

My favorites, however, are the sunny sorts who buy a truly strange domain name, and then write a sweaty pitch explaining why the domain is actually really, really valuable. Here are two recent examples:
