Single-letter stock tickers are prized things, and tomorrow Sprint Nextel will take over the letter “S” from Sears. It’s a good time to look at the list of single-letter tickers:

A – Agilent Technologies

C – Citigroup

F – Ford

G – Gillette

K – Kellogg

Q – Qwest

T – AT&T

X – U.S. Steel

With acquisitions and business failures, however, other letters are now available for companies in need of an updated Wall Street image. Those (and the former firms) include:

H – Harcourt General

I – First Interstate

J – Epoch Holdings

M – M-Corp

P – Phillips Petroleum

U – US Airways

W – Westvaco

Z – Foot Locker
