Wonkette and “D”

Ana Marie Cox — better known as Wonkette — was wandering the “D” halls today. It was interesting in that I got the sense most people there had no idea who she was, so she was kind of meandering around semi-aimlessly, with no-one stopping her and introducing themselves. I’m guessing it was attendee ignorance, althought it could very well have been fear.
Why fear? Read the following AMC comments on Steve Jobs asinine views on freedom of the press for a good example of how ably she flays the unwise. The first section is a snippet of an on-stage interview between Kara Swisher and Steve Jobs (who Ana calls “Apple’s confounder”), and then we have her comments:

Swisher: “Would you have sued if the Wall Street Journal had done this?”
Jobs: “We might have. But the Wall Street Journal has serious thought behind it… the thing is today is that everyone can be a journalist… we are in a gray area and we are trying to help in some small way.”

Oh, excellent. “Help.” Please help us right out of the gray area and somewhere much, much blacker. Freedom of the press is so much simpler when there isn’t any.
Also, when he’s talking about the “serious thought” at the WSJ is he including the Personal Journal’s toilet reviews? Because those are awesome.
