Jorn Barger at the ever-eclectic Robot Wisdom has been back for a while, and his site is still (sort of) RSS-less. While Jorn clearly uses RSS in his own wandering about, he wants to know what his readership thinks about RSS. Yes, it’s a small-ish sample, but the results are interesting:
Why are these results interesting? Because the number one answer is “I don’t understand it”. Those of us who have been messing with this stuff for years (and years) often forget that many people still have no idea why they should care about RSS. Put differently, as much as it often feels otherwise, this is still a market in early-adopter phase.

Yep. RSS is still a tad too geeky. Whenever I try to explain it, it never comes out right the first go. The whole automagical nature of RSS is what I think people have trouble with. Many of my blog consulting clients ask “so what do I have to do for the RSS/syndication to be updated” Nothing. Huh?
BTW, have you tried Lektora?
