Yahoo's New Confidence (& Google's Fatal Flaw)

By Paul Kedrosky · Thursday, March 24, 2005 ·

It is fairly remarkable how the winds in search (and related) markets have shifted. While Google had the wind at its back for almost a year, it now feels like the momentum is behind Yahoo. From the Flickr acquisition, to its current stock buyback, to its plans for an Adsense-type product, to moves in content out of Santa Monica, the company feels energized and moving.

So, here's my question: Any bets on how long it will be until the following paired stock graph shows the shift?

[Update] See a new Motley Fool article touching on the same issue from the opposite direction: "Google's Fatal Flaw". The gist: Google-style advertising is nascent, and there are signs that advertisers and clickers are becoming more sophisticated, while click fraud looms and Google's sponsorable inventory is growing faster than its sponsors.
